Creative Collaborations: The British Blanket Co & Remi Bumstead

We’re excited to share with you the first in the series of ‘Creative collaborations’ our new monthly blog posts celebrating the beautiful things that come about when our members work together. They collaborate so frequently in fact – we’ve got a backlog of stunning creative projects to share with our readers!

First up, our members Bethan & Joe John (Co-Founders of The British Blanket Company) plus Remi Bumstead, videographer with a lot of talent up his sleeve!

What was delivered & how did it go?

This collaboration came about when The British Blanket Company was deep in the throes of planning their brand relaunch and new collection of blankets and scarves for September 2024.

Bethan said ‘We wanted to harness video to bring the products to life, so our customers can better imagine the wonderful cosy feel and snug textures. We partnered up with talented videographer Remi Bumstead to capture a series of ‘cosy moments’ which we could use across our newly designed website and social media channels for the launch and beyond… It was brilliant having Remi as part of our shoot team. He really helped to bring our products to life and we’re really proud of how the video looks on our new website and socials.’

Remi also loved the process as he said ‘It was such a joy to work with Bethan and Joe on this project, and help them capture their incredible blankets and scarves on film – and also in general to really feel part of GatherRound by doing it all in house!’

Who collaborated on this project?

Bethan John and Joe John are Flexi Plus members at our Brunswick Square Gather Round location, they collaborated with Remi Bumstead who is a Part Time Flexi member, also at Brunswick Square.

The British Blanket Company is a sibling-run ecommerce shop that designs and sells naturally cosy and beautifully colourful blankets made at traditional mills in the British Isles. Remi Bumstead is a videographer and his role was to capture video clips of models interacting with the new blanket collection to show off their beautiful colours, textures and all-round cosiness!

Production studio magic

The photo and video shoot took place in the basement Production Studio at Gather Round Co-working space at Brunswick Square – and the ‘blank canvas’ was expertly transformed! The team worked with Bristol-based content agency The Content Emporium to style the empty underground space into a light-filled studio, bringing in backdrops, flooring and furniture to give the impression of a warm and cosy home.
