Shop local in lockdown #1

Blog posts

11/13/20

So here we are in full lockdown 2.0. Here at Gather Round, supporting small local businesses is important to us, and after this coronacoaster of a year, it’s never been more important. We all want to see our fave indies going strong long after Covid, so we thought we’d share some of our favourites with our community.

Each week we’ll pick 5 of our fave local independents who’ve worked super hard to adapt the way they trade in response to lockdown. As a little thank you, a few of our favourites have offered up discount codes for you lovely people. Time to share the love…

Forest bakery

Forest bakery is much loved by our members. We order their to-die-for pastries for our Gather Round monthly family breakfasts and they go down a storm. Not only do they do top-notch sourdough bread and delicious pastries, but a great vegan range too. AND, they deliver free in Bristol. What more could you want from a local bakery?

Forest bakery is kindly offering our lovely readers 10% discount on orders over £10 for the next 7 days using code: GATHERINTHEFOREST

Little Green

Little Green is a family-run business based in South Bristol. Passionate about house plants, they’re on a mission to encourage more people to bring nature in their homes whilst having minimal impact on the environment. All plants are plastic and peat-free and can be delivered straight to your doorstep by bike. How much more Bristol can you get?! Visit their online shop or track them down at Tobacco Factory Sunday Market and other markets around Bristol and the South West. They also offer plantscaping services for businesses, helping to curate our beautiful collection of plants here at Gather Round.

Swevern Coffee

A short hop, skip and a jump from Gather Round on North street, you’ll find contemporary coffee experts, Swevern Coffee. When it comes to coffee, these guys are true aficionados. With a high-end bean selection, a wealth of milk alternatives for non-dairy drinkers and some seriously delicious cakes, this is the perfect local pitstop for coffee lovers. Their Covid safe takeaway layout is definitely one to be praised and don’t miss the incredible street art outside.

Sonny Stores

Sonny stores made their name during Lockdown 1.0 with their insanely good take-away pizza. Lucky for us, they became our neighbours in September 2020 and have become a firm favourite with our members. Incredible pizza, gorgeous homemade Italian food and great coffee, happy days! Since the start of lockdown 2.0, they’ve gone back to being a takeaway and deli, offering a lovely selection of food, drinks and cupboard essentials. Check them out if you’re in BS3 and in need of some Italian delights.
