ustwo Adventure visit us to discuss their latest mentoring programme for creative start-ups

This week at Gather Round, we had the pleasure of hosting Neef Rehman – Creative Technologist and Investor at ustwo Adventure for our Campfire Talk.

An independent design, technology, games and venture company and famously, the team behind Monument Valley, Headed South and Create with Google, ustwo are re-framing what a design business stands for.

ustwo Adventure has been supporting young businesses on their journeys since 2014 by investing in the next generation of creative companies and supporting founders to build lasting businesses.  Their latest mentoring programme, ‘First Mile’ just launched, so Neef joined us as part of his roadshow around the UK’s creative communities to share the low-down on the initiative.

The aim of ‘First Mile’? To “change the path of accelerator programmes” and kick-start a new wave of creative leaders; people who understand the value of design, culture and long-term thinking, and who want to enable others to do the same. It’s not about rapidly scaling companies, but instead equipping them with the belief, network and tools to build purposeful businesses, from the inside out, and for the long run.

“We want to invest in creative companies who care about growing sustainably”

Designed for first -time founders, the programme offers 12 months of personalised support and mentorship, part-time workspace, £10,000 to help you grow and to cover costs, and a pledge to pay it forward.  It’s designed to be inclusive and location diagnostic with the aim of making it accessible to all.

A serious re-think of how Start-up initiatives work is long overdue and ustwo Adventure are paving the way for a more accessible and meaningful journey.  Positive, inspiring, sustainable. Now to think about how we can pay it forward…….

If you’re interested in taking part in the First Mile programme, you’ll find all the info you need over on the ustwo Adventure site.  Deadline for applications is April 6th 2020.  Good Luck!
