Creative rehearsal studio company Pirate Studios have their Bristol HQ right above our Brunswick Square location, and they also happen to be excellent people. So when we heard about their epic party at their Hackney Wick office in London, we have to admit we got a touch of FOMO. Naturally we were beyond happy to oblige when they asked us about throwing our very own version in Bristol. We love any excuse for a get together, and with Pirate in charge of the tunes we knew we were in for one hell of a party.
Community isn’t just a buzzword for us, it’s at the core of what we do. That’s why we’re committed to hosting events of all shapes and sizes throughout the year, that give our members an opportunity to enjoy some downtime together. As well as parties, we throw a whole range of get-togethers – from monthly morning yoga sessions and family breakfasts, to Campfire Talks and post-work Drink & Draws. These super casual events are where we unwind, get inspired, and connect with one another.
The past couple of years have been tough in so many ways, but one of the things we found hardest was not seeing our community come together and let down their hair, so to speak. A packed-out events calendar this year feels like the perfect antidote.
We downed work tools and kicked off the office party at 6:30, transforming Gather Round’s open-plan communal area into an intimate event space. Soon the drinks were flowing, with booze from local legends Wiper & True, Lost & Grounded, Ganley & Naish and 6 O’clock Gin. The good people at Pizzarova kept the crowd fed with delicious FREE pizza served fresh from their famous Land Rover (hence the name!) parked right outside.
Of course, the big focus was the music and Pirate certainly did not disappoint. At the helm were local Bristol group Try Me, whose infectious enthusiasm and genre-bending tunes turned up the energy. Support came in the form of Fabien Cary and El Knight, who were found via an online competition run by Pirate. To spin some tunes on the decks we called upon local faves DJ Antics and DJ WordPress, who played an eclectic blend of experimental, alternative and disco beats to take us into the weekend.
Our versatile spaces make the perfect backdrop for a whole host of events. From our open-plan living area to our production studio for hire, our unique spaces at Gather Round can be adapted to create a truly bespoke event. If you have something in mind that could be our sort of vibe then give us a holla – events@gather-round.co
